Extend the GTLC beyond the finish line
GTLC Luxembourg offers a first glimpse of the Éislek. But the region also deserves to be discovered outside of the race courses.
Take advantage of your visit to Vianden to extend your stay, explore other trails, discover the villages of northern Luxembourg, and take the time to explore its landscapes and heritage.
LANDSCAPES SHAPED BY WATER AND TERRAIN
The Our and the Sûre flow through the Éislek, carving out steep valleys, meanders, and wooded hills.
To the west of the region, Lake Upper Sûre offers a completely different landscape, combining water, forests, and viewpoints. Around Bourscheid, Kautenbach, or Esch-sur-Sûre, numerous trails also allow you to reach the heights and observe the valleys from their rocky ridges.
A REGION TO EXPLORE ON FOOT
In the Éislek, hiking is an integral part of the region's identity.
The Lee Trail links Ettelbruck to Kautenbach over 52 km, passing through the region's slate ridges and villages. It continues via the Éislek Trail all the way to La Roche-en-Ardenne. Together, they form the Escapardenne, a 159 km route between Luxembourg and Belgium.
Many shorter routes also allow you to discover the region at your own pace.
VILLAGES, CULTURE AND HISTORY
Beyond the four castles crossed by the GTLC Luxembourg, the Éislek boasts a particularly rich heritage.
In Clervaux, the international photography exhibition The Family of Man is one of the region's major cultural highlights. Wiltz, Diekirch, and the various villages of the Éislek also offer the chance to discover local history, Ardennes traditions, and memorial sites in the north of the country.
TAKE THE TIME TO STAY
Hotels, B&Bs, inns, holiday apartments, and campsites make it easy to extend your weekend around the race.
The region also features numerous restaurants, cafes, and establishments offering Luxembourgish cuisine as well as more traditional or contemporary dishes.
With public transport being free in Luxembourg, it is also easy to reach several towns and tourist sites without using a car.
